The Tormek T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpener is designed, tested and approved for home use while the Tormek T-2 Pro Kitchen Knife Sharpener is made and certified for commercial use, with a larger format and a more powerful motor.
For the Tormek T-2 there's two different grinding wheels in addition to the standard 600 grit DWF-200 Diamond Wheel Fine; the DWC-200 Diamond Wheel Coarse (360 grit) and the DWE-200 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine (1200 grit), which can be purchased separately. The Tormek T-2 also has the ability to sharpen round, rotary blades using the RBS-140 Round Blade Sharpening Attachment.
Otherwise, the sharpening method is the same on both machines, with the Tormek T-1 having a smaller format to fit in the home kitchen, since the Tormek T-1 is intended for home use.
If you work in commercial food preparation, the Tormek T-2 is the right machine for you. If you are a home cook who want razor sharp kitchen knives à la minute, you should get the Tormek T-1
Both machines has 8 years warranty (5+3 years upon registration at tormek.com). The Tormek T-2 has full warranty for use in commercial kitchens, while the warranty for the Tormek T-1 is valid for home use only.

Is there anything about the T2 which would make it unsuitable for use in a home kitchen, assuming one has the space for it?
Yes, unfortunately the Tormek T-1 is not available in Australia just yet. We are actively working on a solution to offer it on your market, so keep an eye on our socials to get notified when it is available.
There's nothing that makes the Tormek T-2 Pro Kitchen Knife Sharpener unsuitable for home use per se. The price, size and design is propably not for the averege home cook, but it is a truly great machine if you have space and budget for it. What's more is that you have the possibility to add on grinding wheels in different grits, as well as the SC-60 Scissors Jig and the RBS-140 Round Blade Sharpening Attachment.
