Warranty Claim – Tormek T-1 Motor Failure and Smoke Incident

Dear Tormek Support,
I would like to report a serious issue with my Tormek T-1 sharpening machine and request warranty assistance.
Over the last several days, I noticed a slight burning smell coming from the machine while it was operating. When the machine was running without load, the smell was relatively minor. However, when sharpening a knife under normal working conditions, the smell became significantly stronger.
Today, the situation became much more serious. While using the machine, I suddenly heard popping sounds similar to popcorn popping, followed by visible sparks and heavy smoke coming from inside the unit. I immediately disconnected the machine from the electrical outlet to prevent further damage or possible fire.
After the machine cooled down, I carefully removed the bottom plastic cover to inspect the interior. I checked all visible wiring and electrical connections, and everything appears normal with no visible signs of overheating or burning on the wires or connectors.
The only visible damage appears to be located on the electric motor coil/windings, which show clear signs of burning.
At this point, I believe the motor has failed internally.
Please advise on the next steps for warranty service or replacement. I can also provide photographs, serial number information, proof of purchase, and additional details if required.
I purchased this unit from Amazon last year and unfortunately, I'm not eligible for replacement from the seller. From what I see, there are two choices - one is to ship the unit to warranty repair services in US and the second one, you will send me a new electric motor so I can install it myself. It's supposed to be very easy.
