Old T7
I have just purchase a brand new but old T7 from eBay. The main shaft has right hand threads at both ends. Is this shaft stainless steel??
Would you suggest changing the shaft to get the benefit of easy lock anyway?
I purchased a new T4 a few years ago and have never liked the 145 diameter honing wheel. Recently I made a leather wheel about 190mm diameter fitted over the 145 hub, and since buying the new knife angle setter ( a first class upgrade by the way) I now really like the T4 as now I can properly hone.
please have a think though about a larger diameter honing wheel for the T4, it makes a huge difference to the real usability of that machine.

All of the main shafts on the T-7 are made of stainless steel. Only difference between the old and new main shaft it the treads on the stone side.
If you want to be able to easily change between different stones and diamond wheels the new main shaft with Ezy-lock is the way to go.
If you just have one stone and do not need to frequently remove it, there is no need to upgrade the main shaft.
Thank you for your input regarding larger honing wheels.
