Wobbling grinding wheel on Tormek T-1

Hello everyone,

My Tormek T-1 arrived today, but the diamond grinding disc has a clear imbalance when I switched it on for the first time. I tried to capture this in the linked video:

Can I repair anything myself instead of sending the machine back and waiting a while for a replacement? Of course I would much rather start sharpening knives straight away ... boys and new toys, you know what I mean ... :-)

Kind regards
Robert

  • Hello Robert,
Firstly, congratulations on your new favorite gadget!

Secondly, I'm sorry that you are experiencing wobble on your diamond grinding wheel. During shipping the wheel can sometimes get a bit loose due to vibrations and the handling of the package. Hopefully we have a simple solution so you can continue sharpening your kitchen knives! Please follow these steps (also demonstrated in this video):

    1. Turn off the machine and place it in front of you with the diamond grinding wheel to the right.
    2. Grab the composite honing wheel firmly with your left hand and the diamond grinding wheel with your right hand.
    3. Turn the diamond grinding wheel away from you. This will release the nut.
    4. To tighten the nut again: Place your fingers on top of the diamond grinding wheel and turn the diamond grinding wheel towards you with a light snap.

The diamond grinding wheel should now be properly tightened.

If you still are experiencing wobble of the grinding wheel, please contact shop@tormek.se

Hope this will help you so you can enjoy your Tormek T-1!
    Stay sharp!
    Victor
