Ideal workbench height for sharpening woodturning tools and knife sharpening with the Tormek T-8

Dear Tormek team,

I am planning the design of my new woodturning workshop. Of course the T-8 need it's own sharpening station. Where can I find information about the ideal height for knife sharpening (top of machine at navel height), but how does the ideal height for sharpening woodturning tools compare to that?

    To determine a definite height is depending of you length and arm length.
    You have two different working positions on a Tormek machine, when you sharpen from the vertical position of the Universal Support and the horizontal position. Ergonomically the best is to work with a normal shoulder position. With rised shoulders or bend head or even bend forward shoulders you would end up with pain in the neck. To determine the best height for you, is to measure the distance from the floor to the horizontal angled underarms minus the height from the horizontal sleeves for the Universal Support to the workbenches surface. The same from the fully extended Universal Support in the vertical sleeves. Somewhere in between these two levels you'll find your average height which works for mostly of the both working positions.
    Ideal is to build a workbench which is height adjustable.
    Our Sharpening Station TS-740 is adjustable from 750 mm to 830 mm.
