How often do I need to regrade the grinding wheel?
I just got a T-4. I've been doing a lot of sharpening of my plane blades and chisels, and I'm finding that after a few blades, the grinding wheel becomes smooth just from use, and I have to re-grade it back to 220 grit in order for it to cut effectively. Is this common? If I want the wheel to be coarse, do I need to frequently re-grade it to keep it that way?

the wheel has a grid of 220 and if you prefer it more rough, yes you have to use the SVP-650 Stonegrader more often to roughen up the surface to speed up the process. But on the end you want a fine finsish, the finer the bevel is sharpened the better is the performance time and sharpness compared to a rougher edge.
