Which diamond wheels do I need?

I have a T2000 machine that I use mostly for chisels and plane blades. I am wondering do I need all 3 wheels or can i use the fine wheel to define the edge, then follow up with the extra fine wheel? I have an SG250 stone that I can use if the blade is in bad shape.  I also have a Japanese Waterstone to polish at the end.

  • Hi Kevin,

I can't really speak for what you might need, as it depends. Are you reprofiling a lot of chisels and plane irons then I would recommendgetting the DC-250 Diamiond Wheel Coarse to save on time when removing material. Whether or not you need the DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine i would say depends on your need of final surface finish / polish. Since you say you have the SJ-250 Japanese Waterstone I would recommend you start buy getting the all-round DF-250 Diamond Wheel Fine, which you can follow with your Japanese Waterstone. Then if you feel the need for additional wheels, either finer or coarser, you can get it when the need arises.

Hope this was helpful to you.
