Which Tormek model to buy?
Hi!
I am in the prosess of buying a machine. I like the looks of the 50 year jubilee model, but if I'm going to have only one Tormek, will that be the right model for me, or should I buy a standard machine? It will mainly be used for kitchenknives, huntingknives and axes.

Thank you for your question, and happy to hear you want to join the sharpest community in the world!
From what you are describing it sounds like your needs would be met with a Tormek T-4 Original with the KJ-45 Centering Knife Jig and the SVA-170 Axe Jig. I would recommend anyone starting their Tormek journey to start with the Original Grindstone that comes as standard with both the Tormek T-4 Original and the Tormek T-8 Original.
Then it comes down to your wants, budget, and possible future needs. Do you want the Tormek T-8 Black because it has a 50 year warranty and looks cool? In that case you can always get the SG-250 Original Grindstone separately if you'd want to. The DF-250 Diamond Wheel Fine that is included in the Tormek T-8 Black require more caution and expertise.
You might find this machine comparison and this grinding wheels guide helpful in your decision making process.
There is also a video embedded below where we discuss which Tormek model to buy based on needs.
In conclusion, we cannot tell you which machine to buy. I can say that a Tormek T-4 Original will cover your current needs. Any other factors you must decide for yourself.
I hope this was helpful to some extent.
Stay sharp!
