T-4 or T-8
Hi. Rolf from NORWAY. I am wondering the diff between t4 and t8. I am hobbyist with many tasks from small knives to big axes and oldtime szythes. But I will of course not juse it more than average 15 mins a week. Maybe an hour a day on vacation in my old, holiday- farm. Trying to sharpen all the old tools. Or throw them, finally... :-) Thank you, best Rolf

The Tormek T-8 Original is bigger and heavier, and has a stronger motor capacity compared to the Tormek T-4 Original .
The bigger Tormek T-8 Original has a larger grinding wheel of 250 mm (9 7/8") diameter that runs at 100 rpm, compared to 200 mm (7 7/8") and 120 rpm for the Tormek T-4 Original. The Tormek T-8 Original also has a larger honing wheel of 215 mm (8 1/2") diameter compared to 145 mm (5 3/4") for the Tormek T-4 Original.
The bigger and heavier format of the Tormek T-8 Original makes it more suitable for the bigger and heavier jigs, such as the DBS-22 Drill Bit Sharpening Attachment, the SVH-320 Planer Blade Attachment which might feel unstable on the lighter and more compact Tormek T-4 Original.
The warranty for both machine models is 8 years (5 years + 3 years, upon registration within 90 days from purchase). However, when the Tormek T-4 Original is used for commercial, industrial or educational purpose the warranty is 2 years, while the full 8 year warranty applies to both non-professional and professional use on the Tormek T-8 Original.
The Tormek T-8 Original comes with a couple more jigs and accessories than the Tormek T-4 Original. The SE-77 Square Edge Jig, the TT-50 Truing Tool, and the T8-00 Storage Tray for Tormek T-8 Accessories are included with the Tormek T-8 Original and not in the Tormek T-4 Original.
Enclosed both with the Tormek T-8 Original and the Tormek T-4 Original is the HB-10 Tormek Handbook, the PA-70 Honing Compound, the WM-200 AngleMaster, the EM-15 Edge Marker, and the SP-650 Stone Grader.
It is important to think about what kind of tools you will sharpen with your Tormek machine. We recommend the larger models for sharpening of drill bits and planer blades, due to the power and stability of the Tormek T-8 models. If you are a woodcarver or hobbyist and mainly sharpen smaller tools you might find the Tormek T-4 models more convenient.
