Removing a seized locknut

I have a Tormek 1200 and am trying to remove/replace the grinding wheel. But the locknut will not turn. I know it is removed clockwise, i've applied releasing oil and used a long handled wrench, with hammer. No joy. I understand from web search that the shaft is not stainless steel (?!!) soe rust may well be an issue.  Is there a solution?

  • Hi Niel.
If you have a main shaft with a hexagonal nut on the stone side, it has a right-hand thread.
    This nut is loosened counterclockwise.
Please use a ring spanner and a hammer to loosen the nut. You may need to break some corrosion in the threads. The impact from a hammer helps a lot to get it off.
