knife stropping
im attemping to strop mt kitchen knives with a hand strop using pa-70 , do i apply to a dry leather or do i have to coat it with anything

it works both ways.
With a first impregnation with oil, like sewing machine oil (acid free and non hardening), you'll keep the leather soft and flexible. When using without oil, the leather gets more harder and the paste is a bit more "aggressive", with oil the polishing particles are "sliding" through and it can take a bit longer when hand stropping.
